8th Grade Activities are one of the vehicles that we use to encourage our 8th Grade students to maintain positive behavior and high academic achievement. It is also our opportunity to reward those who have worked hard consistently. Some of our activities include: - Talent Show
- Tug-of-War
- Pie Eating Contest
- Winter and Spring Formal Dances
- Panoramic Pictures
- Spirit Week, consisting of:
- Crazy Hair Day,
- Boys and Girls "Hush" Day,
- In-N-Out Lunch/Picnic, and
- Faculty vs. Students Basketball Game
- Awards Night
- Culmination
In order to participate in the class activities, students must do the following: - Maintain a "C" Average on the 5, 10, 15, 20 week report cards for both semesters
- Cannot have more than two Us total in work habits and cooperation (each 10 wk grading period) to be eligible for certain class activities
- Clear outstanding textbook, library, photos, or other school debts or obligations. (Student debts cover entire three years at Wilmington MS.)
In order to participate in promotional/culmination activities, students must do the following: - Pass 10 or 12 classes in the 8th grade to qualify for the Middle School Certificate (50 credits).
- Students must pass 5 classes during the Spring Semester.
- Pass English 8B or Advanced ESL and math both semesters.
- Receive no more than 4 Us in work habits and cooperation combined on the final report cards in January and June.
- Clear any outstanding textbook, library, photos, or other school debts or obligations.
- Maintain good citizenship and obey school rules.
