IMaST Grant
This year, 6th, 7th and 8th grade science and mathematics classrooms at Wilmington MS are participating in an exciting Los Angeles Unified School District EETT Round 6 Computer Grant that includes using wireless laptop computers, electronic presentation boards and tools, and Internet-based resources to promote student achievement in science, mathematics, and algebra.

These classroom technologies are placed at Wilmington MS as part of the LAUSD Integrating Mathematics and Science through Technology (IMaST III) project - a EETT project supported by a No Child Left Behind (NCLB) grant. The purpose of the project is to study the impact that classroom use of technology will have on student achievement in science, mathematics, and algebra.

Mathematics and science classrooms from three middle schools across LAUSD were selected for the grant. Each of the three schools has been assigned a lead coach to work with the teachers at your school.

To help students succeed in their schoolwork, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at Wilmington MS will have access to many exciting Internet-based resources to reinforce learning in the classroom and at home. In addition, every teacher and student will be given an E-mail account for communication with each other and with experts in the field.

With the introduction of this equipment into their classrooms, teachers will be exploring and implementing new ways to make school more exciting and meaningful for your child. We hope you will join us in our enthusiasm for this project and support our efforts to increase your child’s success in school.
