 Troubleshooting Tips

1.   Check cables – electricity, is it connected from the back of the computer to the power surge and is the power surge on? – Ethernet cable, is it connected from the back of the computer to the Ethernet port in the wall?

2.  Wireless Airport connection– on "finder" mode check the airport connection on the menu (upper right corner  of screen) between the sound and the circle arrows icons, it looks like a fan and it should have dark lines, if not, click and select airport and use password.

3.   Log in - If you already have an account, then click on your name, password is your employee number. If in another classroom, do not create a portable home directory when the computer asks. Is better if you log in as “Teacher”.

4.   First Time Log In – Always click YES when asked “Do you want to create a Portable Home Directory”. Only in your classroom computer!

5.   Printer – If printer is not responding, check first that is connected and on. If it is, turn off printer, then turn on again, if still not responding, restart your computer.

6.   Weird Issues -  Rule #1: RESTART computer. Many times, that takes care of the issue.

7.  LEAVE COMPUTER ON AT ALL TIMES!!! It is required for maintenance after hours.

8.  ALWAYS LOG OUT WHEN YOU LEAVE YOUR ROOM!!!! Anyone can access your files.

9.  If everything else fails, be sure you write and send me a request for repair with DETAILED INFORMATION to call ITD in case we need them to repair computer.
